Entertainment/Mobile Video-Audio

MedeoMedeo (medeo.mobi) Nokia’s free ad supported entertainment video site. Content is mostly from Hollywood and includes trailers and interviews with directors and stars.

The site delivers Real Media to Nokia N-Series phones and generic lower quality (H263 ACC) format to other phones. All the videos are low resolution, 176×144 even on the N95. Nokia is missing an opportunity to show off the N-Series  awesome video capabilities by not  sending full screen 240×320 videos to recent N-Series devices.

Travel-Transit/Destination Guides

Discover Our Town (discoverourtown.mobi) aka DOT is the mobile edition of DiscoverOurTown.com, a local directory service covering hundreds of cities and towns in the United States and aimed primarily at travelers. Entertainment/Humor

FarkFARK (fark.com/pda.html) Community site where users submit links to funny, bizarre or interesting content on the web. The FARK PDA side has all the same links and one line descriptions with tags as the full site in a simplified mobile (and ad free ) format. Unfortunately the links point directly to the original non-mobile content. Where is that transcoder when we need it.

Technology/Mobile/Mobile Social

Jaiku (m.jaiku.com) Mobile web version of the micro-blogging service. Jaiku is often thought of as a Twitter clone but it’s actually the other way around, Jaiku predates Twitter by a few months. The best way to use Jaiku is with their S60 application which supports presence, location, native contact book integration and IM using Google Talk. The mobile web version is more limited but is still a great way to post to Jaiku and to follow your friends update streams. If you don’t have any Jaiku friends (or don’t have a Jaiku invite) you can follow a stream of all public Jaiku’s without needing to log in. Via All About Symbian’s List of the Top 10 Mobile Websites.

Inside Orkut (m.insideorkut.com) Here’s a hugely popular (4000+ FeedBurner subscribers) blog about the Google’s Orkut, the number 3 social network worldwide but number one in India and Brazil. Orkut recently launched a mobile version. InsideOrkut has been mobile for a while using mofuse‘s RSS to mobile mashup service. There’s an iPhone version too m.insideorkut.com/iPhone

Technology/Mobile/Smartphones/Microsoft

Bev Howard’s PocketPC Tips and Tricks (bevhoward.com/bhhpj.htm) Bev HowardBev Howard has been using Windows Mobile since the days of Windows CE and the HPC and his “few” tips is more like a few hundred. Some of the items on this site are old but most are still relevant to the latest Windows Mobile devices. The pages are big, around 120 KB, which is no problem if you are using a Windows Mobile phone (or Opera, Webkit or NetFront) but will probably not work too well on your RAZR.
