Steve Litchfield's (The Phones Show host and a frequent contributor to All About Symbian) hand selected directory of mobile web sites. Not a huge collection and by Steve's admission "somewhat UK-centric" but its got at least one of every type of site you need. All the sites listed are high quality and relatively low-bandwidth
