Inspired by Douglas Adam's novel of the same name, H2G2 (stated in 1999) predates and is somewhat similar to Wikipedia - both are encyclopedias jointly authored by visitors to a web site. For H2G2, the site is www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/. Anyone can register on the site and contribute content to H2G2.
