One of the better mobile wine sites. K&L is a connoisseurs wine and liquor shop with stores in San Francisco, Redwood City and Hollywood, California. They also accept online orders with shipping to states where permitted by local laws and also to Japan, South Korea and Hong Kong. 

K&L's mobile site is a searchable, categorized directory of their current inventory of  wines and spirits with descriptions, ratings and a photo of the bottle and label.  Order's can be placed by using a click to call 800 number.

The site works well with smartphones having a screen width of 320px or more.  Large (70 KB) pages and fixed width layout may cause usability problems with smaller screens and some feature phones.

Mark Squires' Wine Tasting Notes - The latest tasting notes from well regarded wine writer Mark Squire's E-Zine on Wine at marksquires.com.

The mobile site is updated weekly and carries Mark's four most recent notes. Each note includes detailed evaluations and point ratings for about 20 wines in various price ranges wines from a specific wine growing region. Notes cover regions from around the world.

A free wine search engine. Wines.mobi carries street prices and wine ratings for 85,000 wines going back to 1890.

This site is fast and seems to have a very extensive database of wines. Some pages carry ads that were clearly not designed for mobile. They are 480px wide and lead to non-mobile landing pages. Fortunately the non-mobile ads are served using Javascript and won't display on most mobile phones.

There are a number of Wine sites on the mobile web offering reviews and ratings of various wines and vintages. WineZap is a little different. It starts with the premise that you now what wine you want but don't know where to find it. WineZap's free form search lets you enter any or all of a number of different search criteria including the name of a vintner, varietal, region, vintage and US zip code. Results will list prices, wine merchant's name, city, state and phone number. The phone numbers are not click to call though, which is inexcusable for a mobile site.

Mobile Drinkboy (drinkboy.com/offline/) This is an Avantgo channel that's accessable from outside Avantgo. Mobile DrinkBoy features a large collection of cocktail recipes sorted by name or type booze used.

A comprehensive and well designed mobile database of cocktail and drink recipes from the big beer and liquor conglomerate Diageo. Lets you save favorite drinks and search for local stores carrying Diageo brands.
