Google's beta Local Search has been mobilized. Lets you search for businesses and services near a zip code or in a city. Simple intuitive interface of consists of just two textboxes labeled "What" and "Where" and a Search button. Search quality seems good returning most of the relevant nearby businesses in my tests. Highlights the hits it has found a little 120x120 pixel scrollable and resizable map.
