Iowa City Press-Citizen Another nicely done newspaper site. Local News, Sports , Editorials and Weather from the Midwestern college town of Iowa City. The Press-Citizen site has the same layout as the mobile editions of Tulare Advance-Register and Visalia Time Delta featured in last weeks Found on the Mobile Web. All three are Gannett papers. It looks like Gannett may be mobilizing all their (over 50) papers. If your town has a Gannett paper try replacing the "www." in the url with "m." and see if you don't get a mobile site.

The Lawrence Journal-World has another generally well designed mobile site. The homepage has links to the five sections (local news, sports, arts & entertainment, Today's photos, movie listings) at the top followed by the current temperature and forecast.

A full featured mobile news site from Louisville, KY TV Station WAVE3 has  News, Weather, Sports, Weather, Traffic, Horoscopes, TV schedule and lowest gas price finder. The Sun has updated their long-running (since 2002) PDA site. The new version is one of the larger (in terms of quantity of content not page size!) local news sites with extensive sports and local news coverage as well as book and movie reviews and plenty of content.

Local Newspaper for Frederick, Maryland. Features 18 stories from the papers Local News, Opnion, Sports and Business Sections. Not a bad little site although performance and download size could be improved by removing unused styles from the 8KB stylesheet linked to each page.

Content and feature rich news site from Maryland's Delmarva Penisula including Salisbury, Dover and Milton MD. The site includes news with photos and streaming Windows Mobile video, weather, sports, traffic, flight tracking and airport delays, horoscopes, lottery results and a lowest gas price tracker.

Mobile version of the Boston Globe's website. A slick modern design from Quattro Wireless, the site has National and Local News, Business, Sports (including live play by play), Entertainment, Weather, Traffic and Real Estate Listings. WOK

Nashoba Publishing operates weekly newspapers in several small Massachusetts towns; The Ayer Public Spirit, Groton Landmark, Harvard Hillside, Pepperell Free Press, Shirley Oracle and the Townsend Times. The six papers share the same website at nashobapublishing.com and a mobile site at m.nashobapublishing.com. The mobile edition has local news sections for each of the towns plus shared obituaries, columnists, letters to the editor, weather and sports sections. Articles are full length and most contain a news photo.

The Free Press is one of the better local news sites with about 30 items covering News, Sports, Editorials, Business and Entertainment. National and International stories appear at the top of the page, but plenty of local news follows. The site is basically a text-only version of the Free Press' web site organized to be reasonably easy to navigate on a handheld device. Not all stories are linked directly off the front page keeping it's size down to a manageable 6 phone screenfulls. Breaking news is updated every few minutes.
