Unless you’ve been living under a rock you probably heard that Google released Buzz yesterday.  Details are on the Google Blog. Buzz appears to be Google’s attempt at building an app that combines the best features of Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare into a single all singing, all dancing desktop AND mobile service. With Buzz you can publicly or privately post status updates, photos and videos, view your friends Buzzes and view nearby Buzzes on a map.  Buzzes can automatically include … Continue reading

QFS.mobi – Easy Anonymous Mobile File Sharing

File sharing services like Rapidshare around since the dawn of the Internet. They let you anonymously upload a file that can then be downloaded by anyone with Web access. While these services have gotten a bad name because they are widely used for illegal sharing of copyrighted material, they also make it possible for non-technical users to share self generated and legally sharable content like their own wedding videos without the need to install software or resort to kludges like … Continue reading

UCWEB Android Version Found!

While poking around on the Chinese language UCWEB site looking for release notes for UCWEB 7.  I discovered an Android version of UCWEB7 Beta 1. I downloaded it to my Google Ion (aka HTC Mgic) and it seems to work pretty well.  It’s rather basic, with only fit-to-width “Adaptive Mode”.  I couldn’t find a way to zoom or vary the text size. But it is fast and supports tabs. The UI is in Chinese but uses icons to represent functions … Continue reading

New Middle Web Sites: Techmeme and Google News

Techmeme, the popular tech news aggregator, launched a new mobile site yesterday.  The official announcement is here. I like what Techmeme has done,  The site, while targeted specifically at the iPhone, Android and Palm WebOS phones, isn’t turning anyone away.  You can visit techmeme.com/m with any browser you want.  I tried it using the Android browser,  a Nokia N95-3’s Webkit based browser, Opera Mini 4.2 and the old Openwave 6.2 emulator. I found that the new design worked just as … Continue reading

Google Wave Is On Android and the iPhone

I’m on Google Wave now thanks to an invite from the Symbian Guru himself, Ricky Cadden. I haven’t really explored Wave very much yet. I’m kind of discouraged because I only have a couple of Wave contacts and Google doesn’t seem to have given me any invites to share with my friends and WapReview readers. I did discover an undocumented mobile interface to Wave though. It only seems to work on the iPhone and Android devices.  To see it visit … Continue reading
