Opera calls the new release 7.5.2, although the version number on the browser&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Help &gt; About<\/em> screen is 7.5.33286. The previous 7.5.1 version was\u00a07.5.32193 internally.<\/p>\n<p>According to<a href=\"http:\/\/my.opera.com\/community\/forums\/topic.dml?id=1658392&amp;t=1366689331&amp;page=1#comment14157512\"> a post by an Opera employee<\/a> on the<em> My Opera &#8211; Opera Mini Forum<\/em> the changes in this release are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Improved font calculation method<\/li>\n<li>Improved fonts for hi-res devices<\/li>\n<li>Page layout improvements<\/li>\n<li>Various stabilization fixes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I upgraded to the new release on several devices. There\u00a0definitely\u00a0are some font changes. The font on many pages is noticeably\u00a0smaller. The screenshots of the dabr.co.uk Twitter web app (above) and the My Opera Forum below show the difference. In both sets of images, the first one shows the old version and the second the new one. My old eyes prefer the previous version. I\u00a0recommend\u00a0you backup Opera Mini using an app like the free <a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.estrongs.android.pop\">ES File Explorer<\/a> before upgrading in case you don&#8217;t like the changes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wapreview.com\/19289\/myoperaold\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-19292\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-19292 imgBorder\" alt=\"My Opera - Opera Mini 7.5.1\" src=\"https:\/\/wapreview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/MyOperaOld-240x360.png\" width=\"240\" height=\"360\" \/> <\/a><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-19291 imgBorder\" alt=\"My Opera - Opera Mini 7.5.2\" src=\"https:\/\/wapreview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/MyOperaNew-240x360.png\" width=\"240\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Opera Mini 7.5.2 is available now in the <a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.opera.mini.android\">Google Play store<\/a>. Opera&#8217;s forum post claims that it &#8220;&#8230;will be available on our servers later&#8221;. I hope that&#8217;s true, however <a href=\"http:\/\/www.opera.com\/mobile\">Opera.com&#8217;s download page <\/a>hasn&#8217;t offered direct downloads of any of Opera&#8217;s mobile browsers since it was redesigned earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>For anyone without Google Play access, I&#8217;ve put a copies of the new Opera Mini 7.5.2 on the WapReview server for you to download:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/wapreview.com\/dwnld\/Opera%20Mini_7.5.2.apk\">Opera Mini_7.5.2.apk<\/a>\u00a0(ver\u00a07.5.33286).<\/p>\n<p>And if you upgraded to 7.52 without heading my warning to backup the old version first, here&#8217;s the previous version:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/wapreview.com\/dwnld\/Opera%20Mini_7.5.1.apk \">Opera Mini_7.5.1.apk\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0(ver\u00a07.5.32193).<\/p>\n<p>Other than having smaller fonts the new release seems good. It reportedly works better on tablets and may have even fixed the <em>Black Screen of Death<\/em> bug that afflicted the last couple of Opera Mini Android releases. That bug manifested itself when you restored Opera Mini to the\u00a0foreground\u00a0after it had been in the background for awhile. The screen would be completely back with no user interface at all. The only way to recover was to terminate Opera Mini with a task manager app or from the Android <em>Manage Applications<\/em> screen.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Opera Software has updated Opera Mini for Android.
