Winksite founder David Harper just showed me a project that he’s been working on. It’s a new way to share all sorts of web content to mobile. The brand new service, separate from Winksite, is called Delivr.

Delivr is a very slick mash up of a URL shortening service with email, SMS, a QR code generator and some of the most popular web services; YouTube, Flickr, MySpace, FaceBook, Digg, Reddit, Google Maps, Google Translate, Twitter, Jaiku, Plaxo, Reddit and Delicious.

Delivr has two main functions. One is as a mobile and content aware URL shortening service. Use Delivr to share a web page, video on YouTube, a photo on Flickr or a location in a mobile friendly format. It works a little like TinyURL, Delivr creates a short URL that you can share. But unlike TinyURL, where you have to copy and paste the URL into the service or media you want to share it on, Deliver has built in one click sharing with SMS, email or on Facebook, MySpace, Twitter or any of the other services that Delivr supports. Also unlike a TinyURL, when someone clicks on a Deliver their browser loads a mobile friendly landing page (which works well in PC browsers too). The Delivr landing pages give the option of viewing either a mobile formatted version of the content or the original.

But that’s not all. Everyone viewing a Deliver has most of same sharing options as the person who originally created it. So if you put a Delivr of your latest blog post on Twitter, I can open it and, with a single click, share it again by email, SMS or on Jaiku or Delicious. Very viral.

In addition to working with Twitter and Jaiku, Delivr is a micro blogging platform in it’s own right. You can create a Delivr account which gives you a personal profile page on it’s own URL, mine is wapreview.delivr.com. Just like Twitter, you can Follow other Delivrers to create a Sharestream of Delivrs which can be viewed on PC or mobile. See wapreview.delivr.com/following for an example.

Another nice feature of Delivr is that it has Google Translate built in. So If someone sends you a Delivr of a Japanese web page and you don’t understand Japanese you can open it as a mobile formatted version of the original that is also translated English or any of the other 36 languages that Google Translate supports.

Delivr is not just for web urls. You can give it a Flickr user name and it will let you browse that user’s albums and find the photo you want to send. Or you can enter a YouTube video or Flickr Photo URL. To share a location, you enter a street address anywhere in the world and the Delivr will point to a Google map of that location.

Delivr has another way of sharing that is possibly even more viral than direct URL sharing. When you create a Delivr there is an option to create a flyer. They are small (four to a page on 8 1/2 by 11 paper) and contain a screen shot of your web page, photo, video or map and a QR code that points to the Delivr landing page for that content. I’m very impressed with Delivr. It is the best way I’ve seen to share content in a way that is usable on both mobiles and PCs. Unusual for a new service everything seems to work perfectly and the design of the site and the mobile landing pages is very clean, attractive and usable.

Winksite founder David Harper just showed me a project that he’s been working on. It’s a new way to share all sorts of web content to mobile.
Although, Delivrs are designed for mobiles, the Delivr creation page currently is not. I’m sure this is temporary. Delivr is still under development and David promises more content types and features very soon.

Delivr is not even officially released yet but it’s up and running and David has given me permission to share it with WapReview readers. You can go to Delivr.com now and use it. You can even create an account which gives you some added features and control over your Delivrs, including analytics and the ability to enable comments on your Delivr landing pages.
