Found on the Mobile Web is an occasional WAP Review feature listing newly added and updated sites on the YesWAP.com mobile portal and WapReview mobile site directory. With these latest additions the directory and portal now list 1271 mobile sites.

Entertainment/Gossip

Gossip Bucket homepageGossip Bucket (m.gossipbucket.com) Another new site from MobileInfocenter, publisher of MobilityBeat, Tech News Tube and Mac Hash. Like the other MobileInfoCenter sites (review), Gossip Bucket is a topic-specific feed aggregator.  The topic is celebrity gossip and the content is pulled from sites like Perez Hilton, Gawker, E! Online, Defamer, People, TMZ and several dozen more.  The one page site carries a constantly updated list of headlines, clicking a headline lets you view either the original or a transcoded copy. Source: Oh! It’s Rugby (mobi.itsrugby.co.uk) Is a rather basic text-only Rugby site. It has schedules and standings for the World Cup and rugby unions around the world.

Sports/Soccer

EuropeFoot (europefoot.mobi) is a one page summary of international soceer football news and results. There about a dozen headlines and brief story blurbs on the page. The site is available English, French, German and Spanish.

LiveScore (wap.livescore.com) This wml site delivers what its title implies, continually updated soccer football scores. The entire content of the site is nothing but pages of abbreviated team names and scores, there is no indication of whether the score is final, or if the game is in progress. International in scope LivScore covers over 50 countries. I’m sure it’s useful to hardcore soccer fans but I’d like to see a little more information. Source: Tappity

JapanToday homepagePublished in Tokyo, JapanToday (japantoday.com/mobile) is one of the top online sources for Japanese national and local news in English.  The full site has over a dozen news sections, a forum, job board and classifieds.  The JapanToday mobile site is much more basic.  It’s a paginated river of news style site consisting of the latest news headlines, 10 to a page.  Clicking a headline opens a page with a text only version of the full story. Next and previous links let travel back in time to read older stories, However there is no site search.

News/US Local by State/Ohio – Oregon

The Olympian (m.theolympian.com) The mobile site of an Olympia Washington daily newspaper. It covers local and state level news and sports.  The site also features weather forecasts with radar and satellite images from Accuweather and local traffic reports. Source: Mobility.mobi

RBC (rbc.mobi) Canada’s largest bank, Royal Banking Corporation or RBC for short, has over 1500 branches in 46 countries.  The mobile web site lets you check balances, view recent transactions, pay bills and transfer funds.  It’s available to all RBC customers who have activated online banking, no special mobile registration is required, just sign into rbc.mobi with your online banking ID and password. M&I Bank (mibank.mobi) Marshall & Ilsley Bank is Wisconsin largest with 193 branches in the state and offices in Arizona, Florida, Kansas, Minnesota, Nevada and Missouri. M&I’s mobile web based banking application is available to all M&I online banking customers.  It sounds especially powerful, offering current account balances, transaction history, fund transfer, check images, bill payment and a branch and ATM finder.  The branch/ATM locator’s is available to non-customers and results includes links to a Google mobile map of the location and driving directions. Schizo's Place homepageSchizo’s Place (schizo.wen.ru) If your not put off by the name or the scary masthead photo of a raving lunatic, you will probably find this site useful.  Schizo tracks the latest applications, especially free ones and provides download links.  The emphasis is on Windows Mobile but Symbian and Linux apps are listed too The site also has a small collection of mobile web links and mobilized version of dozens of blogs created from their feeds.

Portals

Mobinks (mobinks.com) A new mobile web directory. Mobinks has an attractive design and is available in English and French. Listings include description and screenshot and are organized by category and type (classic mobile site or iPhone web app). Mobinks has an effective site search engine and results can be filtered by type.
