The 2012 London Olympics start tomorrow July, 27th and run through August 12th. I expect the Games will dominate online news for the next two and a half weeks. There will be no shortage of ways to follow the Olympics on your mobile phone. But finding the best Olympics coverage or the results of your favorite obscure sport won’t be so easy.

From the Wap Review Mobile Directory’s Sports/Summer Olympics page, here are my top picks for in depth coverage of the 2012 Games.

I tried to choose sites with good cross browser support. All of them work with Android, iOS and Opera Mini, although ESPN doesn’t wrap long lines correctly in Opera Mini.

Google News, Sports Illustrated, Sky Sports and the New York Times sites work the best with the built-in browsers in low end and older phones.

The BBC’s sports and Olympics coverage has traditionally been top-notch so it should make a good choice, particularly for in depth coverage of niche sports.
