Blueapple.mobi: The latest in a seemingly unending supply of new mobile video sites, this one is a video search engine. There is no indication of what sites are searched or the source of individual videos but whatever the source is, it’s pretty extensive. The search was able to find videos on almost any query I tried including music videos, tv shows and sports. The files are in .176×144, H263, AMR, 3gp, encoded which yields the lowest bandwidth/smallest size of the current mobile video formats. Long videos are split into 500KB, 1 minute segments to further reduce bandwidth.

NBC Mobile: (nbcmobile.mlogic.mobi) A site for fans of the TV series The Office and Heroes feature episode recaps, actor bios and blogs, message boards and the opportunity to buy wallpapers and “coming soon” ringtones.

Yell.com: (mobile.yell.com) Shopping and Yellow Pages search for the U.K. Search by business name and/or category. Features zoomable maps and driving or walking directions. Yell also has a Java client, downloadable from mobile.yell.com/uk, which supports a relatively small number of phones.

Thyng.mobi: “Common phrases in common languages” Thyng is a minimalist phasebook offering translations of “Thank you”, “Hello”, “Yes”, “No” and “Goodbye” in French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian.

Mobilcast: (zeus.melodeo.net/mc) A Java ME podcast and video player. Claims to have a library of 150,000 podcasts. The player and podcasts are free other than what your carrier charges for bandwidth. About 50 phones are supported, visit the Mobilcast website for details.

Cerkle: (cerkle.mobi) New mobile social platform from Roundpoint, a company previously known for building subscription based mobile sites for newspapers. Cerkle lets you build a simple mobile homepage with photos, text and links. Cerkles can be public or private and their is a parental control feature allowing you to set of a Cerkle for your child and restrict access to only approved friends. Registering for a Cerkle account involves sending an SMS to a UK number which seems unecesary and also means Roundpoint has your mobile number.
