Fonet is a  large mobile portal with a lot of features. It combines an extensive mobile web directory with a social network, personal portal and online tools like search, maps and driving directions.

Social networking features include profile pages, friends list, messaging, groups and blogs.

Fonet’s personal portal gives  users an online phonebook, todo list, notepad, photo storage and sharing and the ability to create a personal bookmark list of their favorite links and RSS feeds.

In terms of features Fonet rivals mainstream portals like iGoogle and MyYahoo.  I’ve always felt that Fonet’s weakest point was its rather crude and garish visual design. The good news is that the Fonet  UI has just been redesigned. The images above show the old (left) and much improved new look (right).
