Skyfire S60 Beta Available

SkyFire LogoAt last! The Skyfire browser is available for S60 3rd Edition phones (Nokia N95, N82, E71, etc). I’ve been eagerly awaiting this since it was first announced, what a year ago? It’s a closed beta, so head on over to skyfire.comand sign up if you haven’t already.

If you were accepted for the Windows Mobile Beta, as I was although I never installed as I don’t have a WinMo phone, it looks like you are automatically in the Symbian one too!

I’ve installed Skyfire on my N95-3 and I can say it’s well worth checking out, fast, stable with perfect rendering of complex sites including ones that S60WebKit and Opera Mini have issues with.

  1. Can someone give me an idea whether or not I should go for a smart phone or just use a more stylish phone and wait for some better technology? I am on the Sprint network, and was referred to http://www.sanyowireless.com , but I’m not seeing any options that look like smart phones. I don’t need an MP3 player or a camera, I’d rather have a phone that is lighter and easier to carry. Any recommendations would be welcome

  2. anyone could share a skyfire account with me?

anyone could share an account? please kindly email to [email protected]

Skyfire is a proxy based browser similar to Opera Mini except that the client is a native (Symbian or Windows Mobile) application rather than Java. The proxy server is based on the Firefox core.

It is a full-web browser with very good support for JavaScript and Flash. Not a lot of features yet besides the basic browser; no tabs, fit to width or page saving. You can read more about it and watch a demo video at http://www.skyfire.com
