Why I Still Use Bloglines

I love what Google is doing for mobile; pushing the limits of device and OS capabilities with Android, championing HTML5 and the Web as the future of mobile applications and adopting a “mobile first” philosophy where new services are rolled out before or at the same time as their desktop counterparts. But I do have a bone to pick with the way one of Google most popular web services, Google Reader, works on mobile.  I really wish I could use … Continue reading

Don’t Miss It! Mobile 2.0 Europe – June 17, 2010

The European version of my favorite mobile conference, Mobile 2.0 will be held June 17th in Barcelona at the beautiful new campus of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra . While I won’t be able to make it to Barcelona this year, I’ve attended several of the past  Mobile 2.0 events and found them extremely worthwhile. Updated: The Good and the Bad – New Prepaid Data Options From Sprint, T-Mobile

Updated 16-May-2010; new Virgin Mobile plans can be used with any Virgin Mobile US handset. One thing that’s been holding back the adoption of  mobile web services in the US is the lack of affordable data,  or in some cases,  any data at all on prepaid mobile plans.  It looks like that is about to change with both T-Mobile and Sprint expected to roll out new data options for prepaid users this month. Sprint’s new offer looks pretty good.  Starting … Continue reading

New Opera Mini 5 Release Fixes RTL, DST and Text Entry Bugs

Today the Opera Mini Blog announced a “silent” release of Opera Mini.  I’m not sure how anything announced on the corporate blog is silent, but no matter this appears to be a pretty significant release. It adds 32 new languages and fixes several notable bugs, specifically: RSS feed links should now appear at the top of pages again. RTL (Right To Left) languages (Arabic, Hebrew, Urdu, etc. ) should now display properly on phones with supported fonts. Problems with daylight … Continue reading
