The Minneapolis StarTribune’s Updated Mobile Site is Content-Rich

The Minneapolis StarTribune has updated its mobile site. The old site was really designed for PDA’s but usability scaled down to typical phones fairly well. The new one is a pure mobile xhtml page. There are links to about 25 breaking news stories on the front page organized into Weather, News, Sports, Business and Entertainment sections . Virgin Mobile US to Bundle Opera Mini

At CTIA, Opera Software and Virgin Mobile USA (VM) announced a deal where the operator will bundle Opera Mini with future handsets.  In the US, Virgin Mobile is a join venture between Richard Branson’s  Virgin Group and Sprint/Nextel. Prestigious international affairs and business news weekly The Economist, has quietly dropped the pay wall on their mobile edition. The mobile site which used to cost $7.95 a month is now completely free. The Economist Mobile includes a selection of articles from the paper’s main on-line site and the print edition.
