F1-Live's New Mobile Site

The 2009 Formula One season has gotten off to a surprising start with Jenson Button and the new Brawn team winning three of the first four races. An amazing turn around for Brawn, which is the ne’er-do-well Honda team with a new name and Mercedes engines. Also new this season is a major redesign of F1-Live.com‘s mobile web site at m.f1-live.com. F1-Live is part of the  Montpelier, France based Racing-Live.com group, which was acquired last year by ESPN. The redesign … Continue reading

Mobile 2.0 Barcelona June 18-19

My favorite mobile conference, Mobile 2.0 is happening  in Barcelona next month, June 18-19.  I’ve been to all three of the Mobile 2.0 events in San Francisco and have been very impressed with quality of the speakers, panels and with the fast moving, “no PowerPoints” format. This is the second European Mobile 2.0. I have no budget for travel so I wasn’t able to make it to the first one last year, but it was bigger and by some accounts … Continue reading

DotMobi’s New WordPress Mobile Plugin

Images courtesy of dotMobi dotMobi just released WordPress Mobile Pack, a plugin that creates a mobile version of your WordPress Blog.  There are at least a half a dozen plugins that claim to do the same thing so you might ask if we really need yet another.  I’ve been playing with a pre-release version of Mobile Pack  for the last week and believe that is the most complete, standards compiant and extensible yet.  It’s also very easy to install and … Continue reading

MIR Reborn? The Really Mobile Project and Mobile Developer TV Launch

My favorite mobile blog for the last few years was SMS Text News (later renamed Mobile Industry Review, MIR for short) I thoroughly enjoyed Ewan MacLeod‘s brutally honest, scathing but hilarious put downs of  “rubbish, bullocks and fluking useless” mobile devices and services.  It got even better when Ewan added James Whatley, Ben Smith and  Dan Lane to the team and put them to work doing weekly long format video podcasts that were both entertaining and full of insights and … Continue reading
