Soccer Laduma (soccerladuma.mobi) is yet another new African based mobile website.  It’s the mobile web edition of a weekly newspaper that’s the country’s largest soccer publication.  South Africa has  twice as many people using the mobile web as the fixed web so it’s no surprise that Soccer Laduma’s four month old mobile site gets more traffic than its fixed web counterpart. Time Warner’s weekly print sport magazine, Sports Illustrated (SI), finally has a mobile web site of its own. For the last few years, Sports Illustrated content has appeared as a section within CNN Mobile (Time Warner also owns CNN) but now it has its own URL: m.si.com.  The site covers news from  MLB, NFL, NHL, NBA, NASCAR, Professional Soccer, Golf, Tennis, Cycling, College Football and Basketball and even occasional coverage of high school sports. The 2008 Beijing Olympics are less than a month away, August, 8th.  There doesn’t seem to be much pre-Olympic hype as in years, at least here in the US.  But dedicated Olympics mobile sites are starting to appear.  I’ve found a dozen so far.
