Mobile Bookmarklets for Webmasters

WapReview reader and fellow blogger Selurus recently discovered that the Page Rank Checker bookmarklet on my Opera Mini Bookmarklets page at o.yeswap.com wasn’t working anymore. He suggested replacing it with a bookmarket he had made for  popuri.us, a new service  that shows not only a site’s Page Rank but also its Alexa Rank, Complete Rank, number of Yahoo  and Live Search Backlinks,  and Bloglines Subscribers. (It also supposed to show Quancast Rank, Google Backlinks, Technorati Links and Delicious Bookmarks, but … Continue reading

Supercharge the N900 Browser With Bookmarklets

Regular WapReview readers know I’m a big fan of browser bookmarkets, snippets of JavaScript in a browser bookmark that automate repetitive tasks in the browser.  Bookmarklets let you post  links to Twitter or  Delicious with just a couple taps. And that’s just the beginning, bookmarklets can simplify tasks like creating short URLs, subscribing to feeds in Google Reader or Bloglines, translating all or part of a web page to another language and changing illegible page colors to something more readable. … Continue reading

Updated: Trying Out Firefox Mobile 1.0 For Maemo

Firefox Mobile – Truncated header background Update: A couple of days after I originally wrote this piece, Firefox Mobile RC3 went golden as Firefox Mobile 1.0.  As far as I can tell their were no code changes between RC3 and 1.0 so the content of this piece is relevant to the initial this the first non-Beta release of Firefox Mobile.  There have however been updates to some of the extensions most notably “Weave”.  I’ve also found the elusive “Tabs From … Continue reading

N900 MicroB Browser Basics

Plus, I’d heard that the N900 was a geeky device, not really suited for normal mobile users. OK, maybe I am a geek, but I think I got up to … Continue reading

Bolt Browser Updated to 1.62

The Google  Nexus One phone wasn’t the only mobile product released today. According to a post on the Bolt Forum, “BOLT 1.62 was released today. This is a routine upgrade featuring behind-the-scenes improvements that you probably won’t notice on the surface, but you should still upgrade. You will be prompted to upgrade the next time you launch BOLT.” One reason to upgrade is that until you do, the browser will continue to prompt you to upgrade every time you start … Continue reading
