Delicious.com Goes Mobile

Yahoo owned social bookmarking site delicious.com launched a mobile web version yesterday.  It’s at m.delicious.com.  The mobile site is a pretty basic read-only affair, it doesn’t even seem possible to add a bookmark using the mobile version.  What mobile Delicious does provide is a low bandwidth view of your bookmarks, inbox, tags, subscriptions, network and the top 10  URLs as defined by “Delicious Popular”.   You can browse your bookmarks by tag and search for a tag.  The site works well … Continue reading

MySpace Mobile Adds Video

I just saw this on VentureBeat. MySpace has added video to their mobile site, m.myspace.com. Thanks to MySpace’s original association with bands and music, it has tens of thousands of videos, especially music videos. It makes sense to make them available on mobile. I took a look at the mobile video offering and it is live and it works but it’s very limiting and not particularly user friendly. To watch MySpace videos on your phone you have to jump through … Continue reading

Snappr is new, both the .net and the .mobi launched this year. The mobile site opens to a simple search box where you can enter a product name or the number that appears under the UPC bar code found  on most products.  Snappr returns a list of products with price, a … Continue reading

mjoy – Free International SMS

Here is a new service that promises to make sending and receiving text messages free, and that includes international texting. It’s called mjoy and is a product of German based, Venista Group. I tried the service and it works and is free, although there are some limitations. Your SMS are free because they are sent from a mobile (or PC) web interface. So they are only “free” if you have an unlimited data plan or stay within the limits of … Continue reading

Soccer Laduma – A Rich Mobile Experience

Soccer Laduma (soccerladuma.mobi) is yet another new African based mobile website.  It’s the mobile web edition of a weekly newspaper that’s the country’s largest soccer publication.  South Africa has  twice as many people using the mobile web as the fixed web so it’s no surprise that Soccer Laduma’s four month old mobile site gets more traffic than its fixed web counterpart. The site is very rich in features yet is easy to navigate.  The front page is simple and fast … Continue reading
