Bolt Browser Discontinued! Servers Shut Down

The popular Android and Mobile Java proxy browser Bolt,  is being discontinued. The cloud service that it runs on will be shut down on Dec 14th, 2011.  The news came in the form of a cryptic message overlay that started appearing today in the browser. New Touch-Friendly UC Browser 8.0 Beta for Java ME

UC Mobile released a new version of the UC Browser for Java ME last week. It’s 8.0 Beta and is notable for its brand new, much more touch friendly user interface. Opera Mini and Mobile For Symbian Update Fixes Opera Link Freezing

Opera Software has released important bug fix upgrades for the Symbian versions of both Opera Mini 6.5 and Opera Mobile11.5. The updates fixs a bug that caused both browsers to lock up if Opera Link bookmark synchronization was enabled. There are some other fixes including one where deleting pre-installed search engines did not “stick”. Opera Software rolled up updates to both Opera Mobile and Opera Mini today. Opera Mini 6.5, which was released for Android 3 weeks ago, is now available for Java ME, Symbian 2nd edition and latter, Apple iOS and BlackBerry OS 4.2.1 and latter. Opera Mobile 11.5, which also first appeared on Android three weeks ago, was released today for Symbian 3rd edition FP1 and latter. The iOS release is available in iTunes. Using Firefox Mobile on the Nokia N9

I had to send the N9 back to NokiaConnects on Friday as my two week trial was up. Before returning the phone I installed Firefox Mobile on the N9 and created this video showing the installation process and Firefox mobile running on the device. 21-Feb-2012 Opera Software released an official Opera Mobile build for the Nokia N9 and N950 Harmattan phones.  It’s available from the Nokia Store or as a deb package download from Opera. Bolt 3.0 For Android Now Available To All

Bitstream’s Bolt Browser for Android is out of beta and available in the Android Market. I haven’t been able to find a direct download link (needed for users with non-“Google Experience” devices which don’t have the Android Market). Android 2.1 or latter is required. Although labeled 3.0, this is actually the first public release of Bolt for Android. The latest Bolt for Java and Blackberry is 2.5 hence the 3.0 version.
