KeePass, a FOSS Password Manager With Great Multiplatform (PC and Mobile) Support

The focus of this site is on mobile web apps so I rarely cover native apps. However I prefer using a native app for password management.  I want my passwords available instantly and everywhere regardless of whether I have a wireless signal or not.  I also need a password management solution that works on all my devices using the same encrpted password database.  I use Windows and Linux PCs as well as Android andSymbian smartphones and basic feature phones with Java … Continue reading

I enjoy reading novels on my phones, particularly when traveling. I’m always on the lookout for new eBook readers particularly for Symbian^3 and Java feature phones where there aren’t many good options.  A reader pointed me to Albite, a new mobile Java eBook reading app that comes in several versions including one optimized for Symbian touchscreen devices. Albite reader is a free open source (Apache 2.0 license) app  by Svetlin Ankov. Download it from albite.vlexofree.com (mobile download site: m.albite.vlexofree.com).  The key feature of Albite … Continue reading

Opera Mini, Bolt and UC Browser On Bada Phones!

Samsung’s Dolfin browser on the Wave bada phone is a good one  in most respects. It loads pages quickly,  has excellent JavaScript performance and supports geo-location and many HTML5 features. But I found it unusable with many desktop sites because the fonts are too small to read at the zoom level where text columns fit the screen. When you zoom in text doesn’t reflow and you have to scroll horizontally to read which I find intolerable. Thanks to a reader … Continue reading

Bolt 2.02 Released

Bitstream updated the Bolt browser to version 2.02 today. There doesn’t seem to be a changelog,  but according to a post by one of the admins on the official Bolt user forum its “..a minor update which will speedup the connection in some devices and also fixes the cookies/login-save issues in some devices.” Bolt will prompt you to update every time you launch it. Updating over the air is pretty painless with most platforms. If you have problems updating, visit … Continue reading
