Coming very soon: The next generation in mobile browsing

The  words “Coming very soon: The next generation in mobile browsing” and a map jigsaw puzzle image appeared on Opera Software’s “teaser” page at opera.com/next/. Opera used a similar page during the PR buildup leading to the release of Opera Unite. Five days before Unite’s release, Opera posted a page reading “On June 16th at 9 AM (CET) we will reinvent the Web” If Opera follows the same model this time we should expect something new in mobile browsing five … Continue reading

Mobilize 09 – Moto and INQ With Android, Oh Boy!

I attended yesterday’s Mobilize conference in San Fransisco and did a quick post about Motorola’s big announcement,  the Cliq with MOTOBLUR.  I wanted to follow up with a little bit more about the conference and my analysis about why I think Android is significant for mobile web browsing and mobile web services. Mobilize was very well done.  Kudos to Om and his staff and sponsors for sweating the details and making Mobilize a good experience for everyone.  Things like good … Continue reading

Dick’s just went mobile with an attractive mobile new Website at dsports.mobi.  It was launched with a 2D barcode promotion on what is allegedly the world’s largest HDTV video screen during the nationally … Continue reading

In addition to Peggy, the site’s authors include industry insiders Chetan Sharma, Andrew Grill, Andreas Constantinou and John Puterbaugh among others. This is one site that should be on every mobilist’s reading list. I’m not sure how long MSearchGroove has had a mobile edition. I discovered … Continue reading

Southwest Airlines Adds Mobile Booking and Flight Status

One of my readers suggested I take a look at Southwest Airline’s new mobile site. Back in 2006, Southwest was one of the first airlines to offer mobile web based online check in. Until recently however, check in was about the only thing you could do on the Southwest site. That’s all changed with the latest redesign. The new Southwest site not only lets you check in but also offers mobile users a full range of online services including flight … Continue reading
