Mobile 2.0 – Apps vs. Browser Based Web Services

There is tremendous buzz currently around native apps and app stores thanks to the iPhone App phenomenon. This was especially noticeable  during a panel at Mobile 2.0 titled “Developers, Mobile Ecosystem Development & Third Party Services & Applications” The panelists, from Qualcomm, GetJar, O2, Sun and the Symbian Foundation, were all involved with their respective company’s App Store efforts.  While one can hardly blame players in the App store space for touting their vision, I  think it got a little … Continue reading

Mobile 2.0 – Advertising Tips for Mobile Web Publishers

I spent the last two days at the Mobile 2.0 Conference – Silicon Valley. This is my fourth Mobile 2.0 and like the previous three was a first rate event with great speakers and panels and attendance by a global group of mobile entrepreneurs and developers. It was ably organized and run with great attention to detail by Greg Gorman, Mike Rowehl and Peter Vesterbacka with off-site support from Rudy De Waele and Daniel Appelquist . The event was two … Continue reading

Mobile 2.0 Silicon Valley Oct 15th and 16th

Registration is now open for my favorite mobile event, Mobile 2.0. It’s an intimate, fast paced conference that always seems to attract the top people in mobile both as speakers and as attendees. And you gotta love Mobile 2.0’s “No-Powerpoint” rule. The first two Mobile 2.0 events in San Francisco were outstanding and with the same able team of Daniel Appelquist (Vodafone), Gregory Gorman (Tertius), Mike Rowehl (Miso Mob and Mobile Monday), Peter Vesterbacka (Some Bazaar and Mobile Monday) and … Continue reading

2008 Mobile 2.0 Event San Francisco – Part 1

Today was the 3rd annual Mobile2.0 Event in San Francisco. This is my favorite mobile conference, fast paced, intimate and  with a no PowerPoint rule! Mobile 2.0 always seems to draw the best presenters and the attendees are a nice balance of developers and entrepreneurs from the Americas, Europe and Asia.  This year’s event was no exception. Kudos to the organizers: Daniel Appelquist from Vodafone; Gregory Gorman, Tertius; Mike Rowehl, Skyfire, Peter Vesterbacka, Some Bazaar and Mobile Monday and Rudy … Continue reading

Mark Your Calendars – Mobile 2.0 is Nov. 3rd

My favorite one day mobile conference, Mobile 2.0 will be held in San Francisco on November 3rd. I’ve attended the last two Mobile 2.0 conferences and consider it a don’t miss event. What’s so great about Mobile 2.0?  It’s an affordable ($250) , intimate (a few hundred attendees) gathering that always features a great selection of speakers.  Here’s a partial list of this years panelists and speakers: Russ McGuire, VP, Strategy, Sprint Ozzie Diaz, Chief Technologist, Wireless, HP Tatsuki Tomita, … Continue reading
