I’ve Rediscovered Tweete

Twitter was down all morning thanks to a stupid DDOS attack. When it came back up my favorite Twitter mobile client, Dabr, didn’t come back up with it.  Dabr’s still down 14 hours latter.  After using the Twitter.com’s extremely limited mobile site for a while I started looking for alternatives.  The first one I tried was Tweete. Not only was it working but Tweete has added a whole bunch of features since I last looked at it in in December. … Continue reading

Is it Worth Retweeting?

Much as I love Twitter, the signal to noise ratio is pretty high. A major source of noise is when multiple people you follow retweet the same item. Worth Retweeting? is a simple Twitter mashup designed to help you avoid excessive retweeting. The way it works is that you enter your Twitter user name and the user name of the Twitterer you are thinking of retweeting. Worth Retweeting? then shows you what percentage of your followers also follow the other … Continue reading

New Opera Mini Bookmarklets

I’ve added four more bookmarklets to the Opera Mini Bookmarklets page at o.yeswap.com.  They were submitted by Lucian, a  reader and regular contributor to Wap Review.  Bookmarklets are bits of JavaScript code stored in a browser bookmark.  When you launch a bookmarklet  it typically does something with the  current page like highlight all the links, display the page’s cookies or Page Rank or subscribe to the current site’s RSS feed in Google Reader or Bloglines. It used to be pretty … Continue reading

Delivr Update Simplifies Mobile Sharing

I’ve been using Delivr.com since launched in December.  It’s so powerful and does so many things that it’s hard to summarize.  I covered it in depth here. One use of Delivr is as a mobile aware short URL service with one-click posting to many social networking and bookmarking sites. Supported services include  Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, Google Bookmarks, Jaiku, Delicious, Digg, Reddit, Plaxo and Delivr’s own micro-blogging service. That’s not all though, using the same one click iterface, you can send … Continue reading

Mobypicture – Post Mobile Photos to All Your Networks

Mobypicture (i.mobypicture.com) is a new service that lets you upload pictures from your phone to multiple social networks and blogging platforms including Twitter, Jaiku, WordPress, Blogger, Tumblr, Livejournal, Brightkite, Facebook, Hyves or Vimeo. Uploading is by MMS, email or a “browse for file” web form on the Mobypicture mobile site. When you upload a picture it’s automatically posted to your accounts on all the networks and services you’ve configured in Mobypicture. Mobypicture  works well and seems popular, I’m seeing a … Continue reading

Glocut – A Mobile Location Mashup With Great Usability

Glocut is one of the nicest local search web apps I’ve seen yet. What sets it apart from all the others is its deceptively simple but effective user interface. When you launch Glocut the first time you will need to enter your location. It’s not very fussy about  formatting; a full street address, city, country, postal code or a landmark like “Times Square”; they all work . It gets even better, Glocut has a tiny Java or Windows Mobile native … Continue reading

Carnival of the Mobilists #163 at Golden Swamp

This week’s Carnival of the Mobilists (COTM) is hosted by Judy Breck at Golden Swamp.  Judy’s not only the host this week, she’s also the dynamo that keeps the Carnival running smoothly with a new edition appearing every Monday. She schedules hosts, reminds each week’s host when it’s their turn,  promotes the Carnival on the COTM mailing list and on Forum Oxford and maintains the Carnival’s website.  Thank you Judy for your great work, you have made the COTM one … Continue reading

Easy Status updates With Ping.fm Mobile

Thanks to Mark Guim at The Nokia Blog, I’ve discovered a neat new mobile tool. It’s Ping.fm’ s mobile site and Mark used to announce his engagement! Congratulations Mark. If you don’t know Ping.fm, it’s a service that lets you simultaneously update multiple social networks. So instead of posting  a Tweet to Twitter and then going to Facebook and any and all the other social networks that you use and updating your status on each one – you just update … Continue reading
